About GGE
Created in the City of Champions. This is the story behind the show.
About the show
Good Game Edmonton is a podcast and ecosystem directory covering the video game industry and esports scene in Edmonton, Alberta, and across the Canadian Prairies.
The show talks with developers, competitors, organizers, educators, and community builders. The people doing the actual work of growing a games and esports scene in this part of the country. Some guests are running studios. Some are building competitive programs from scratch. Some are organizing events, advocating for the industry, or teaching the next generation of developers.
GGE was created to cover what's happening here and make it easier for the people building the scene to find each other. It's not the first voice covering Alberta games and esports. It aims to be a useful one.
The show is produced by Sellarcast. GGE produces the quarterly GG Alberta roundup in partnership with Digital Alberta.
The host
Cory “Sellarcast” Sellar is a marketing and communications professional based in Edmonton, Alberta. He studied broadcast media at NAIT, which laid the foundation for a career built around storytelling across media, tech, and non-profit sectors.
His interest in esports goes back to 2017 when he was living in Prince George, BC. That's where he first started paying attention to the competitive gaming scene and what was being built around it. He moved back to Edmonton in 2019 and started getting his hands on the pulse of what was happening locally and provincially — the studios, the orgs, the people quietly doing the work.
He created Good Game Edmonton in 2024 because those stories weren't getting told. The podcast is his attempt to change that.
